Honey Process

The bee is most honoured among all living beings, not because she works but because she works for others !

FROM FARM TO FORK

Bee Keeping & Honey Collection :

The bees play an important role in pollinating many plants and increasing agricultural productivity. The bee farmers are trained in all aspects of bee keeping & if necessary provided with the necessary equipment as well. They are also taught the importance of hygiene in terms of regular cleaning & servicing of their equipment and the self procedures to do the same. They are explained the economics of bee farming with an assurance of buy back of all their produce. Once they are ready they are provided with the plan of migration to different locations as per season and the flora & fauna . Once the hives are ready for extraction, the honey is extracted using modern scientific methods and packed in clean food grade buckets.

Transportation to factory premises

This raw honey is sorted and marked carefully by the bee keepers and transported to our factory. Once it reaches our factory, the honey received from the different farms is given a unique batch number for identification Here it is again sorted, graded & labelled as per the different varieties. Proper storage of all varieties at optimum temperatures is ensured.

Sampling for Lab Testing :

This first test is the most pleasant and yet at the same time the most difficult inspection. At this point, it isn’t about the technical parameters of honey, it is just about a pleasant aroma and the fine taste of honey that should be typical for its variety. Organoleptic sensory evaluation is conducted and once the honey passes this evaluation, a sample is drawn from each bucket to make a composite sample. This sample is then sent for testing either at our internal lab or the external NABL accredited or German Lab for the complete honey profile test to check purity, contamination and compliance to honey standards

Processing :

Based on the test results of the honey, after they meet applicable quality norms the honey is ready to be processed at our factory. Batch size and variety of honey depends on individual customer requirements. A standard single lot can vary from 500kg to 22 tons depending on the various factors. Processing of honey includes filtration of foreign particles & homogenisation. Modern processing facilities include flash heating and Flash cooling , pasteurisation & moisture reduction ( if needed ) to finally delivering the honey to the settling tanks where the honey is kept for a specified duration . At this stage, final testing as per CODEX / FSSAI standards is done as required for domestic or export.

Packaging :

Once the honey has settled it is ready to be packed. We have facilities to pack in bulk & retail packs both. Bulk packs can be in 300kg drums, 25kg, 50kg or 75kg cans or pails as per customer preference. An automatic filling & labelling line is used for the retails packs.
